Red Hook Center for Adaptation, Resilience, and the Environment
The proposal for a community resilience and preparedness center targets multiple key issues in the neighborhood of Red Hook, in New York City. It is intended as a stakeholder and community education venue, providing equal access and use by organizations to increase the physical and social preparedness of all publics, while encouraging environmental interaction and awareness through community engagement.
It is an adaptive reuse project, occupying the historic warehouse at 28 Verona Street with additional programming on the adjacent vacant lot at 35 Delavan Street. On-site resilience measures are applied in conjunction with sustainable water management technologies, with the flexibility for educational uses as well as a disaster preparedness center.
The proposal components of this project were achieved in collaboration with the team of students, while collages and illustrations were conducted as a solo exercise for the visualization of CARE’s programming.
